Tutorial | An Oval Mother's Day Gift Box

5.07.2015

Hi there everyone!  Hope your Thursday has been a good one.  Today I want to share with you one of 2 Mother's Day gift projects that I've been working on the past few nights: an oval gift box.

I started off first coloring with copic markers this lovable "Wryn - Mom and Me" digi stamp from Tiddly Inks.  When I first saw this digi, I was almost in tears.  Just so beautiful!

For the lid and box base, I used the Floral Ovals - Spellbinders Nestabilities Decorative Elements Die and embossed them with the Twirl & Swirls embossing folder - Taylored Expressions. To create the oval shape of the box, I cut out a 3" x 10 1/2" stripes of shimmer white cardstock, score and cut like this. The same method was applied to create the oval for the lid, except with a 2" x 11" stripe.

For the finishing touches, I embellished the lid with crochet ribbon while giving the box a beautiful silk ribbon in lavender wrap-around, topped with pearls.

And don't forget flowers!  A gift for mom isn't complete without showering her with beautiful flowers.  I used the following materials to create these vibrant colors flowers:

Taylored Expressions' Birds of a feather stamp set
Taylored Expressions' Birds & Branch dies set.
Sizzix Susan's Garden Tool Kit
Distress inks

For a touch of sparkles, I brushed a thin coat of glue to the petals, sprinkle with glitter and finished off with rhinestones and pearls here and there.  The little birdie is also from the same TE stamp and die set.

The sentiment tag was created using:

Taylored Expressions' Mama and Me stamp set
Impression Obsession's Circle dies set

Here's another look of the oval box again...

Wishing you an early awesome and beautiful Friday!  As always, thanks for stopping by and sharing your day/evening with me.
