Christmas Reflections

11.02.2015

Greetings friends! Welcome to the 1st Monday of November and the start of a brand new challenge over at Outlawz Monday-Greetings. We have a beautiful shiny Christmas theme for you this week: Christmas Reflections - using shiny or mirrored embellishments on your Christmas theme creation. A friendly reminder, in order to qualify for the prize drawing, your creation must has a sentiment on the front and follow this week theme.

We're so gracious to have two sponsors for this week: Poppy Seed Graphics and SLS Lines. For my card, I am using this beautiful image from Poppy Seed Graphics call Fairy of December.

Supplies

Shines: Wink of Stella GL Red 020, StampinUp Crystal Effects
Glitter: StampinUp Dazzling Diamonds glitter
Merry Christmas sentiment: Power Poppy's Poinsettia clear stamp set
Holly Sprays Dies: Creative Expressions - Craft Dies by Sue Wilson
Embellishment: silk flower with gem

Since I normally like keeping my cards clean and simple with use of fancy frames and embossing folders, I don't have a lot of embellishments in my stash. So I came up with a creative way to add the shines as well textures to my card by using lots of glitters, Crystal Effect gel and Wink of Stella. Hopefully you can see all the shiny details. I applied the Crystal Effect gel, which is similar to Glossy Accent, first to the different areas from the fancy frame to the fairy's hair, wings, snowball and snow on the ground. Then lightly dust diamond glitter over them. I also applied a few coats of the Crystal Effect gel to the holly sprays and the "Merry Christmas" sentiment which I fussy cut out. For the fairy's clothing and berries, I brushed a thin coat of the red Wink of Stella on after coloring. Finally, for a touch of the "mirrored" embellishment, I added three gem silk flowers on.

Copic coloring combo for the fairy

skin (E21,E00,E000) clothing (RV25,R46, R89 covered with Wink of Stella GL Red 020) Wings/hair (Y13, Y15, Y17) holly/berries (RV25, R46, R89, YG00, YG03, YG25, G43)

I hope you can join us over at Outlawz Monday-Greetings this week for our Christmas Reflections theme. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today and perhaps share your comment, thoughts as well question with me before you go!

Below are the challenges I am participating this Glittering Christmas Reflections card in.  Wishing you a lovely first week of November!
