Guest DT at Art by Miran

1.22.2016

Happy Friday friends! I am thrilled to share my guest designer post with you today!   Because I won a challenge a few weeks back, I got the invite to be guest designer over at Art by Miran Challenge blog for this week Challenge #50 Anything Goes theme.  I want to thanks Mi Ran for sharing her beautiful talent with the crafty world and for having me as guest designer for this week.  It's truly an honor to be among the beautiful talented design team of Art by Miran.  Please come join me over at Art by Miran Challenge blog.  To participate in the challenge, please remember, only hand colored and hand made projects are qualified.

For my guest designer card, I am working with this joyful little sweetheart calls Catching Hearts.  She's something new for me - my challenge win gift from Mi Ran (thank you Mi Ran!).  When I first saw her, I immediately fell in love with her beautiful smile, big eyes and her free spirit.  Mi Ran has done a beautiful job capturing the joy of childhood in this sweetheart.  It truly was a joy coloring her up.  You can find Catching Hearts over at Mi Ran's Etsy shop - Art by Miran.

How I made the card...

This is a 4.25x5.50 size fold card which I create by cutting a piece of 4.25x11 heavy weight red peppermint cardstock and folded in half at the 5.50 inch mark.

Next, I opened Microsoft Word (version 2013), pulled in this little sweetheart Catching Hearts and resized her to 3.5 inch in height.  I want to make multiple cards with her.  So first I Right click on her and select Wrap Text and then Tight so I can move her around.  Then I Center click on her again and did Copy and Paste 5 times to get 6 of her on 1 page.  Print on Copic blending paper.  See 1st photo below.

I colored her with Copics [skin/cheeks] E000, E00, E21, YR000, R11, R20 [eyes] B0000, B02 [clothes/shoes] RV25, R35, R39, Y02, Y17, [hair] E31, E33, E35.

Then I glittered the hearts, her clothes and shoes with Wink of Stella - yellow and red.  It's hard to see in the photo.  But just picture Dorothy's red shoes from the movie The Wizard of Oz and you'll know what the shoes and her red skirt look like in all the glitters!

Rolling Hill - I hand sketched in and colored with copics YG000, YG03, YG25, YG23

Background sky - I rubbed Versa Magic Sea Breeze ink on with a dauber.

"Hello you" sentiment is from the Lawn Fawn SCRIPTY SAYING clear stamp set LF844 which I purchased from Simon Says Stamp.

Finally, I finished the card by layering it on a piece of red peppermint cardstock follow by white cardstock embossed with the  Darice 4.25x5.75 Heart Background.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today friends and perhaps share your comment with me before you go.  It's truly a joy hearing from you.  If you have any questions about working with digital images in Microsoft Word, please don't hesitate to e-mail me.  I'm happy to help and will do my best to answer your questions.

I am entering my Catching Hearts card into the following challenges below.

Sending warm winter hugs to you and may you have a lovely and blessed day!

  8. Hi Christina,
I usually keep my cards a bit simpler too. Flowers and other embellishments usually looks better when it´s just a few on my project but in the "Katy" scenario I went a bit crazy, lol!
Hugs Nick (or Helene, I´m fine with both)
