For Teachers | My New Stamp Design

Hello there!  As promised earlier, here is one of two card designs that I did over the summer. These I made back in June to hold gift cards inside, an End-of-School-Year Thank You gift for our two oldest kiddos' Kindergarten (Matthew's) and 2nd Grade (Catherine's) teachers.   And yes, I used my own drawing and sentiments on them.  [All supplies used here are linked to the stores where I have purchased them in the thumbnails at the end of the post.]

Teacher Appreciation Cards

I have Catherine and Matthew all to thanks for coming up with this brilliant Open Book with Apple concept for the cards.  I honestly would not have thought of that and quite please with how the drawing turned out.  I then needed the perfect quote to go with it, found this teacher's quote on Google and recreate to this Stroke Dimension font in PicMmonkey. I highly recommend PicMmonkey to anyone who enjoy creating their own sentiments to match their card's theme.  It is very easy to use and it's free.

The kiddos also help colored up the three large words: heart, little, mind with their choice of medium.  Catherine did her in crayon.  She also picked her favorite color - blue for the card base color.  So blue card for Mrs. Oberschlake.

Matthew did his coloring of the words with markers and think his teacher would like pink.  So pink card for Mrs. Snider.

Don't you just Love this Wonky Stitched Square Stax frame around the black chalkboard paper?  It's one of the newest My Favorite Things Die-Namics that was released a few months ago.  I think it was back in May as that when I ordered mine from Ellen Hutson.  What I love about this Wonky Stitched Square (and the Wonky Rectangle and the Wonky Circle - Yes! I got them all! Haa-haa) is that it helps add an element of fun to the card while at the same time, allowing me to maintain that clean-line look I want for my background so not to take away the attention from my focal image.  To really make the stitches pop, I carefully went over it with a white gel pen.

For the book, I did it in two parts to give it a little dimension.  For each card, I print out the image twice.  I adhesive the first image printout right onto the black chalkboard paper.  Then with the second image printout, I cut out just the top page with the apple.  Next, using the tip of the scissor, I curl the edges of the page upward.  Then I adhesive that over the first image with foam tape.  Finally, I used embroidery floss to create the bookmarks.  [For the pink card, I embossed the light beige layer with the Taylored Expressions' Take A Number embossing folder].

Christina, such a perfect sentiment for teachers everywhere! It is a reminder for the days they feel downhearted, and a thank you for the appreciation on their best days! Your image is darling, and perfect for back to school or a thank you! AND YES! I love the way you have chalk-board technique'd the wonky stitched frames! Fantastic look with the white pen on top of the stitching. Great designs! Thanks for the info about PicMonkey, too! xoxox
