Personalized Kid's Birthday Card

11.01.2016

Hello!  Today I have a fun and personalized kid's birthday card to share with you, featuring some new products I've recently purchased over at Simon Says Stamps.  I have so much fun with this card and with the help from my favorite stamping tool, the MISTI, it was very quick and easy putting it together.  All supplies that I used here are linked at the end of this post.

This card was made for little Layla, a classmate of my son and she is turning 7!

I am using the balloons and stars like designs from the Avery Elle clear stamp set - Balloons.  I absolutely love this little set!  It packed with lots of fun designs which work so perfectly well for any occasion cards.

I stamped with Ranger Archival inks, which is a pigment ink onto Simon Says Stamp White, 120# 4 Bars Scored Cards.  And because the inks are pigment inks, they sit on top of the paper, giving off this gorgeous vibrant colors result!  As for the white card, it is super smooth and I was so amaze with how well it takes the inks!   Just look at how nice and crisp the edge of the balloons turned out!

To personalized the card, I stamped each letters of Layla's name in Versamark ink with the Altenew Calligraphy Alpha clear stamp set. Then heat embossed with the Ranger Black Sparkle embossing powder.
QUICK TIP:  I applied the EK Success Powder Tool over the area first before I stamp.  What the powder does is it cut down the static cling between the embossing powder and the paper.  Therefore keeping the embossing powder from sticking onto areas that I don't want it to stick to (a.k.a. the non-stamping areas).  If you don't have this tool, you can also use baby powder.
Next, I stamped the "7th" for her age using the Recollection's Brush Script Alphabet clear stamp set.  I also personalized the gina K. design - Bubble Gum envelope with Layla's name in Memento Tuxedo Black.  Then added on the smaller balloons and strings from the set in Versamark ink.  On the back, I stamped on my son's name.

I simply love making and giving personalized handmade cards.  I think it is the personalizing piece that made giving handmade cards (and gifts) extra special and extra meaningful because it connects the recipient to it at a personal level. When you personalized it, it becomes not just any handmade card.  But a handmade card crafted specifically just for that recipient.  And this simple little card with envelope says all that.

Thank you for visiting me.  May you have a lovely week ahead.
