Masculine Wedding Anniversary Card + Freebie Download

wedding anniversary card power poppy fly guy

Hello!  Today I am sharing a CAS (clean and simple) masculine wedding anniversary card that I made for my hubby Kan, featuring this cool Power Poppy's "Fly Guy" digital stamp by artist Marcella Hawley.  I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.

This past Saturday Kan and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary.  Being the boring homebody people that we are, we either celebrate this special milestone by taking the kiddos to the zoo or time in the garden pulling out weeds.  But this year, I thought we could use a different FISHING!  So to propose my fishing idea to him, I gave Kan this "Fly Guy" card :D  When he pulled it out the envelope, all he could say was "really? fishing?" LOL.

To begin my project, I opened the image up in Microsoft Word, Window 10 and resized it to a 5-inch width before printing it out on Neenah 80# cardstock.  Then color with Copic.

I am a huge fan of artistic details stamp images.  So when Marcella first released this "Fly Guy" digital stamp (I believe last summer in June), I immediately fell in love with the image and knew I must add this set to my Power Poppy's digital stamps collection :D

These are the Copic colors I used.  For added texture, I went over certain areas of the image with Prismacolor premium pencils.  This is probably my favorite brand of colored pencils.  I really like how soft and thick the cores are and how intense the colors!  I have the 150 colors set which I purchased from Ellen Hutson.  But, if you are new to coloring with colored pencils or just want to give the Prismacolor brand a try, I would suggest buying just a few individual pencils first and test them out.  And if you like it, then invest in the complete 150 colors set.

For the finishing touches, I first brushed on lots of clear Wink of Stella over the water, to give that sunlight glittering illusion. Then, I mounted the sentiment "I Am Your Greatest Catch" (that I create for a little humor) over the fishing line with foam tape before adhering onto my storm cloud card front.

Kan REALLY did have a marvelous time fishing (catch and release).

Here is the sentiment used on this card.  I create it in a few different fonts since I wasn't sure which font would go nicely with the image.

To download and save to your computer, click on the image and it will redirect you to my Freebies page.  The sentiments come as a single jpeg format page.  You will need to do a little photo cropping to separate out each individual sentiment.  If you need a refresh course on how to crop digital image,  you can see my tutorial here.

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to share your comment with me.  I truly enjoy reading through each one of them.  May you have a blessed day.  Take care!

Oh, Christina, congratulations on your 11th wedding anniversary! I thank God for the wonderful years you and Kan have had with each other and how He has blessed with your such a lovely family! What a sweet idea to decide to go on a fishing trip, and I LOVE your card! How clever to add a digi sentiment of your own design to the line of the pole! Your coloring is exquisite, and I agree about the Prismacolor pencils for adding some details. I love mine! What a fabulous photo of Kan with his wonderful catch (and I love that he released him). But YOU, my friend, are Kan's best catch of all! Hugs and love...and wishing you many more beautiful years!! xoxo

How fun! Happy Anniversary! I wish you many more wonderful years together!
I love the card (that sentiment you added is soooo true) and I don't know very many guys that would willingly pass up the opportunity to fish! Looks like Kan caught a nice one too ... Did you catch any Christina or did you just supervise? LOL

Happy 11th Anniversary to you both, and many more ahead !! You did a great job on your fisherman card - I always find masculine cards hard to do, and they're certainly not as much fun as feminine or cute cards. Prisma pencils are my favorite medium, and with gamsol, they do a great job of shading. Looks like the fishing expedition was a success -- smiles AND a fish. Thanks for sharing with us, Christina.

LOL Made me smile and laugh. OF COURSE you are his greatest catch! Love the photo of your husband, too. Thanks for the freebies! hugs, de
