Hello.  Today I have a glittery distress oxide ink blending card to share featuring the Rainbow with Pot of Gold Bigz die set from Sizzix.  For a refresh course on ink blending, do check out the video at the end of this post.  It’s an old video post that focused not only on how to ink blend with three different ink blending tools but, also on the Embossed Resist technique as well.

Tutorial – Distress Oxide Ink Blending Rainbow w/Pot of Gold

Supplies: (die-cut) Sizzix Rainbow w/Pot of Gold Bigz die set; Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloud Border (cardstock) Neenah Solar White; Bazzill Robin’s Egg  (distress oxide inks) Candied Apple; Squeezed Lemonade; Mermaid LagoonSeedless Preserves; Hickory Smoke; Wild Honey (tools) ink blending tools; Sizzix Big Shot; paper trimmer; Scor-Pal scoring board; bone folder; double-sided adhesive tape, double-sided foam adhesive (embellishments) Ranger Stickles Glitter Glue – Frosted Lace; Wink of Stella – Clear

    DIRECTION

    1.  Start by creating a top-folded 5″ x 6″ size card base from a 6″ x 10″ size Robin’s Egg cardstock.  Score at the 5″ mark.

    2.  With a 5″ x 6″ white card panel, die cut a portion off the top with the cloud border.  Adhere the panel to the card front with foam tape for added dimension.

    3.  Die cut on white the rainbow (2x), pot and coins, ONCE.

    4.  Ink blend the gold coins completely in Squeezed Lemonade Then, darken the edges in Wild Honey.

    5.  Ink blend the pot in Hickory Smoke.

    6.  Take one of the rainbows and trim off the attached cloud.  Next, ink blends the rainbow as followed:

    7.  Adhere the ink blended rainbow on top of the second white rainbow, inserting the left end into the cloud.  Then, insert the right end into the pot followed by the gold coins.

    8.  Adhere the assembled rainbow with the pot of gold to the cloud border card panel with foam tapes.

    9.  Once the inks dried, apply the clear Wink of Stella on the entire rainbow and gold coins. *TIP* Use a heat gun to speed up drying time.

    10.  Finish by pipping the cloud with Stickles glitter glue in Frosted Lace.
